Joshua Gonzalez, MD, graduated from the University of California, Los Angeles, with degrees in Anthropology and English. A native of California, Dr. Gonzalez spent the next decade in New York completing his medical degree at Columbia University College of Physicians and Surgeons and his urology residency at the Mount Sinai Hospital. In 2015, he completed a joint UCLA/San Diego Sexual Medicine fellowship in sexual medicine under Dr. Irwin Goldstein. Dr. Gonzalez is now in private practice in Los Angeles. He specializes in the management of male and female sexual dysfunctions. Dr. Gonzalez also treats a variety of common urological conditions including benign prostatic disease, voiding dysfunction, and male infertility. Throughout his career, Dr. Gonzalez has focused on advocating for sexual health and providing improved healthcare to the LGBTQ community. He remains committed to engaging medical professionals and patients through non-traditional the use of social media.
Linda Vignozzi is Associate Professor in Endocrinology at the University of Florence, Department of Experimental and Clinical Biomedical Sciences where she coordinates the Gynaecological Endocrinology Research Unit in the Sexual Medicine and Andrology Unit. At the University of Florence she received her MD and PhD in Endocrinology and Metabolic diseases. At the School of Endocrinology and Metabolism, University of Pisa, she received her Postgraduate Diploma in 2011. Prof. Vignozzi has written several book chapters and invited reviews in the field of male and female sexual medicine, hypogonadism and metabolic diseases, prostatic diseases, including BPH, human reproduction. She has served as a member of the Scientific Committee of the Italian Society of Andrology and Sexual Medicine (2009-2012), member of the Executive Committee of the Italian Society of Andrology and Sexual Medicine (2012-2016), and a member of the Scientific committee of the Italian Society of Endocrinology (SIE; 2015 -2017). Prof. Vignozzi is currently a member of the Executive Committee of the Italian Society of Endocrinology, a member of the Scientific Committee of the Italian Society of Obesity (SIO; 2014 at present); the Chair of “Female Sexual (dys)function” scientific subcommittee of the International Society for Sexual Medicine, and Chair of “Female sexual health and dysfunction” scientific subcommittee of the European Society for Sexual Medicine (ESSM). In addition, she coordinates the committee dedicated to “Endocrinology and Female Sexuality” of the Italian Society of Andrology and Sexual Medicine (SIAMS).
Dr. Rose Hartzell is a licensed Marriage and Family Therapist (license number 53079) and an AASECT Certified Sex Therapist who currently works at San Diego Sexual Medicine, where she is responsible for addressing the sexuality, relationship, and intimacy concerns of individuals and couples who attend the clinic. Dr. Hartzell earned her doctorate in health behavior with an emphasis in human sexuality, and an EdS and Masters in mental health counseling with a minor in development from Indiana University. Dr. Hartzell has written multiple journal and book chapters and has given over 50 presentations at international and national meetings on sexuality matters. Dr. Hartzell is an AASECT Certified Sexuality Educator and has taught numerous classes at San Diego State University, Indiana University-Bloomington, the University of Arkansas-Fayetteville, and National University.
Dr. Hannan is a tenure-track Assistant Professor in the Department of Physiology at the Brody School of Medicine at East Carolina University in Greenville, NC, USA. She completed her PhD in cardiovascular pharmacology at Queen’s University, Canada with Dr. Michael Adams. She continued her training with post-doctoral fellowships at the Medical College of Georgia with Dr. Clinton Webb and at the James Buchanan Brady Urological Institute at the Johns Hopkins School of Medicine working with Drs. Trinity Bivalacqua and Arthur Burnett. Dr. Hannan a strong background in many biochemical and in vivo techniques, smooth muscle signaling, neurovascular physiology and pathophysiology of the genitourinary tract. Her research interests focus on bladder, vaginal and penile function/dysfunction in obesity, diabetes, cardiovascular disease and aging.
Dr. Jewel Kling is an Assistant Professor of Medicine and women’s health provider in the Division of Women’s Health Internal Medicine at the Mayo Clinic in Scottsdale, Arizona. She completed her Internal Medicine Residency at Mayo Clinic Arizona, followed by a Chief Internal Medicine fellowship year. Her clinical and research interest are in menopause and sexual health. She is a North American Menopause Society (NAMS) Certified Menopause Practitioner. She is also interested in education and is active with the Internal Medicine residency and Mayo medical school, as well as efforts to expand the discipline of Sex and Gender based medicine. She is the co-chair of the LGBTI Mayo Employee Resource Group, as well as a member of our Transgender clinic steering committee.
